There's a group named “Friends of Waukee Schools” that has shown up on campaign material lately. The whole town seems to be a buzz about the possibilites!
If you recall. Two years ago, their was a “Wolves and Warriors” Political Action Committee (Or was this Warriors and Wolves!?). This PAC was run by Tami herself. That campaign was very aggressively anti-CRT, with the ugly pamphlets created to gin up anger and resentment of others in the community.
They had a website with a complaint form just encouraging anyone to find fault with a teacher. They could use the reports to score political points using anger and scorn at teacher's who didn’t follow the company line. Many teachers were scared to do their job and just teach. Considering these are our brightest young professionals, it’s awful to see them treated this way.
All the while, it is a fact, that CRT theory is not taught in ANY Iowa public school classroom. Such small details weren't important to those PAC candidates from 2 years ago.
They had their sites on using this confusion and fear about what was happening in our schools. They hoped the fear would be powerful enough to get all 4 into office.
We as a community were very lucky that didn’t happen. This anti-CRT push by the far right candidates was soundly defeated. Today we have everyday normal people with common sense, pride in public schools, and common decency that are currently serving on the board.
But this extremist, anti-CRT group won't stop re-inventing themselves and will keep trying endlessly to get a voting majority on pur school board, and city councils.
You only need to study the goals of Moms4Liberty, Family Leader, and TPUSA to understand why they don’t want to tell you their goals face to face.
They favor vouchers as a giveaway of the state teasury, our money, to their own private doners. These private schools are increasing tuition at their schools in an offsetting amount to what the vouchers provide. As a result, the parochial schools are making more profit than ever, thanks to Reynolds and her supporters. We get to pay for that, while our public schools continue each year intentionally underfunded.
In the end, poor and middle-class lose tax revenue to the private schools’ profit. The tax burden is again shifted further down the income chain, where it can be least afforded.
Public school could become less accessible for all, in the long run, because of this bill
These extremist candidates also want to have a say in whatever books your family thinks it’s ok to read. They also want state employees to decide what books can be offered in school libraries. This was never an issue in past year. It’s been intentionally made an issue this year. Not because of any true danger posed, but only because there’s a political upside for this group to keep up these banned book complaints. Let's all ignore these as much as possible to cut down leverage over administrators, teachers and students.
Maybe in the future it will become worse. Maybe the books will need to align with Kim Reynold's chosen religious denomination. How do we know for sure? If we give up protections from government censorship what will the censorship be in the long run?
How are these extremist groups successful in getting families to back government censorship? My thesis is they use fear to cripple us as a whole. They similarly cripple their opponents in a similar manner.
We all used to know better than this. We don’t need the government doing our jobs as parents.
Pictured above is Amy Jepsen. She's a right-wing school board candidate for Waukee this Nov. 7th
The two conservative candidates who endorse each other, and campaign together are also shown below. Notice also, the door hanger is paid for “Friends of Waukee Public Schools” also! Many people reported receiving these door hangers.
Tami is a member of Moms For Liberty, and it seems that her husband, Jeff Rubino may also be as well. In the next picture, you can see them both. They are at the top standing next to each other. This is from a photo set provided by the Polk County chapter of the extremist group Moms For Liberty. It was taken earlier this year at a M4L event.
So, what is the group, “Friends of Waukee Public Schools”? Are they our friends? No, this is a policial action committee (a PAC) that seem to be working in an effort to help both of the right-wing candidates listed above.
We will go over fundraising documents and more details in part 2 of this series. There's a lot more that can be said.
Don't forget to subscribe to get part 2! Almost all my content will be free. The public deserves to know all of this information.
